Insights into the Work of Josef Floch
A catalogue project in collaboration with
Ysabel Sureth and Jana Noritsch
Developed in close collaboration with collector Ysabel Sureth and provenance and collection-history specialist Jana Noritsch, this comprehensive catalogue is dedicated to the work of the Austrian-French painter Josef Floch (1894–1977).
The volume documents and contextualises the collection assembled over recent years, spanning Floch’s early period in Vienna through to his later works created in Paris and New York.
The catalogue offers insight into the intensive research, art-historical reflection, and sustained commitment that shaped this project. In her foreword, Ysabel Sureth describes the motivation behind it:
“Through engaging with Josef Floch’s life and work, a fascinating chapter of art history unfolded before me — one that had long remained overlooked. It was my wish to bring sharper focus to this oeuvre and to establish a foundation for further scholarly exploration. This catalogue marks a step in that direction — a testament to enthusiasm, curiosity, and respect for an exceptional artist.”
The catalogue invites readers to retrace the passion and dedication with which Josef Floch’s works have been collected — and continue to be collected — particularly the female portraits and figurative compositions that have shaped the collection’s focus for more than three decades.
Printed copies are available for purchase at €20.00 (excluding shipping).
